About Challen
Challen graduated from Five Branches Institute (Santa Cruz, CA) where he attended full time from 2004-2007, with his Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM). He is a California State and Hawaii State Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.O.M.) since 2007.
A native of California and a graduate of Palo Alto High School and Foothill College (Los Altos, CA), Challen served in the U.S Navy (1980-1986) in the submarine service. After a few years of running the Yee family businesses, he was led to a career in the Silicon Valley tech industry, beginning in 1990, where he was employed by several chip memory design companies as a manager and senior engineer.
Although establishing himself as a hard-driving achiever in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design, it is through the trials and tribulations of start up companies that Challen discovered his affinity for helping co-workers develop their professional and personal skills in the often EQ-averse conditions of Silicon Valley startups.
His personal strength to endure the rigors and isolation of startup life came from his desire to nurture his Christian faith through regular group study of the Bible via an international inter-denominational organization called Bible Study Fellowship.
Seeking to help be of service to the community, the result his Christian faith and of observing the practical and effective work of inspirational Chinese medicine doctors, Challen sought to learn and practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
His unique exposure to both Western and Eastern culture and philosophy plays an important role in reaching others to promote the value of Acupuncture in a Western allopathic-based health care system.
