Commentary on an Integrative Health Practice Research Report
A few comments and insights resulting from reading an article about a 2017 Research sponsored by PureBranding that studied the differences between convention and integrative health care and physicians and their relationship to their patients.
Some of the key points surround:
- Physician-Patient Relationship
- Treating Root Causes
- Optimizing Health
- Lifestyle considerations
Since Acupuncture is established in the holistic medical system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, these research findings are strongly in alignment to the core philosophy of Acupuncturists and those who strive to adhere to serve their patients in the best way they can.
There are often restrictions created by any kind of institutionalization of Acupuncture (for example, strict time management), though, this just adds to the diverse landscape that Acupuncture finds itself in the United States.
Acupuncture can still be effectively applied in strict time managed conditions, however, this is places more emphasis on the patient’s ability to be aware of their overall condition by self-education and through their evaluation and relationship with their primary care physician.
Given time, the positive effects of building a compassionate and supportive relationship yields valuable life improvements in both patient and practitioner.
