Acupuncture:

Exploring Military Applications

If you served as a Navy Corpsman or Army or Air Force medic or anyone who applied acupuncture in a forward area of operations, I would like to hear your story and chat with you regarding the possibilities and potential use of Acupuncture in the service and especially on submarines. Send an email to challenyee@gmail.com and introduce yourself, I look forward to hearing from you.

I served on active duty in the Navy from 1980-1986 and over 3 1/2 years attached to the USS Bremerton (SSN-698) a nuclear fast attack submarine.

I believe there practical applications for Acupuncture for those serving on submarines. Acupuncture is compact, portable and practical, all features that are idea for a submarine environment where space is a premium. Acupuncture could also be used to stabilize certain life threatening conditions to gain valuable margin to preserve the health and life of personnel in an environment that will necessarily have limited medical resources.

Acupuncture is being used in the military in an array of areas (weblink)* to help treat soldiers in ways that maintain their alertness. This growing adoption of acupuncture helps in the reduction of opioids to treat pain, but it also has widespread usage to treat PTSD and stress in general.

The military is a great place to prove if systems work, no one really wants to put their life on the line with a system that will fail you, and it is great to get the endorsement of the servicemen and woman who are seeing the positive effects.

Thanks for reading and watching!
