Some considerations when seeking an Acupuncturist
Some commentary on some on-line pointers I discovered on what to look for and when your might seek and Acupuncturists.
Are they Licensed according to your state’s requirements?
Are they experienced in the area that you are concerned with?
For pain issues, consider seeking Acupuncture care before a cortisone shot (empirical data).
For an official diagnosis of a condition you need to see your MD. Some acupuncturists are also an MD or are qualified to offer a diagnosis, but an L.Ac only does not.
Acupuncturists will refer you to your MD or even to Urgent or Emergency care is they are able to detect or observe some condition the may indicate something life threatening or out of their scope of practice.
It’s helpful to let your acupuncturist know if you are on any medications or have had any surgery, particularly if the acupuncture treatment is in the same areas.
