Tongue Diagnosis – In brief

Tongue Diagnosis, another bedrock of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), a really complex and deep subject, is, in short, presented just for you here in less than 5 minutes.

Many conditions of the internal systems are reflected in the color, shape, texture, and regions of the tongue. Along with checking the pulse on each wrist, observing the tongue offers a remarkably reliable reflection of the imbalances that are affecting your internal state. Chronic and sometimes acute conditions are indicated.

As a matter of self-diagnosis, if you notice any changes in your own tongue or the tongues of others and there are no understandable reasons for the change or marked difference from what you think is “normal”, you may want to pay a visit to your local Acupuncturist or Oriental Medicine Doctor to get a checkup.

Note: The use of pharmaceuticals can interfere with tongue indications as they can cause the tongue to present in a certain way just because of the drug being used. Therefore, It’s always a good idea to provide your acupuncturist with your history of pharmaceutical usage.
